The roots of IPT’s outsource solution trace back to 1993 with the founding of Transactive Service Network (TSN). This company was initially created by a national HVAC contractor to manage technicians as well as the HVAC equipment under contract. Based on the demonstrated success of this concept as well as the increasing efficiencies provided by the internet, TSN was offered as a stand-alone, third party tool for full service facilities maintenance management. The business concept was to increase business productivity and cost efficiency by streamlining and measuring the ongoing performance of facilities maintenance processes, especially for geographically dispersed locations. The TSN solution was comprised of three key components:

  • streamlined service delivery process
  • service repair invoice auditing and processing
  • field management staff

This powerful platform appealed to the Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company (HSB), America’s oldest and largest provider of equipment breakdown insurance, as a means to better manage the assets of their customers. Integrated Process Technologies (IPT) was created when HSB acquired Transactive Service Network in 1997, incorporating it as a separate division and investing in the ongoing development of the platform. The vision of HSB was to combine their in-depth knowledge of equipment and causes of equipment failure with IPT’s data collection and operational management technologies.

In September 2000, Enron Energy Services acquired IPT as a key element of their aggressive expansion strategy with nationwide retailers, large property management firms and Fortune 500 clients. Essentially Enron managed a company’s entire spend for energy and facilities maintenance and provided guaranteed discounts on these budgets. Enron purchased IPT to manage the facilities maintenance as well as their committed energy improvement projects, investing more than $35 million in technology, infrastructure and process mapping to create a scalable entity capable of handling one million customer locations.

Today IPT is a privately held, stand-alone entity and the recognized expert in facilities management for clients with multi-site geographically dispersed locations. Call us today at 877-860-7400 to learn how we can transform your facilities maintenance into a competitive advantage.
